First day of school

My First Day at Kent Ridge Secondary School
I guess that my first day of secondary school was not a memorable one, because I don’t remember much about it, so I will just talk about what I remember.
I still remember that on my first day of school, I was very excited and anxious to go to a new school and when I first stepped into the school, I also had that fear in me as I didn’t know a single person there and I knew that I had to be bold enough to make friends because I don’t really like to be alone or left out. So by being audacious, I took the courage to talk to other students.
The first person that I spoke to was Wen Shan and as we had some things in common, which is her friend was my friend, although Wen Shan and I had never seen each other before, we clicked quite fast and talked a lot on the first day we met, and from then onwards had become best friends. Yong Shan was sitting behind me so I also talked to her and my first impression of her was that she was a very quite girl. But when I got to know her, she wasn’t really very quiet girl. Pei Wen was sitting in front of me so tried talking to her but she didn’t seem to talk much.
After the morning assembly, the student councilors brought us around the school to get us more used to secondary school life. I also wondered why the hall and the parade square were on the third floor, as I thought that it was quite unique. We also played games like ice-breakers to make everyone of us feel comfortable with each other. I still remember, my form teacher Mdm Wong was on maternity leave, so Mr. Patrick Low took in charge of us for the first few weeks and on my first day I was still unaware of Mdm Wong’s maternity leave, so I thought that Mr. Low was our form teacher. And for the whole day Wen Shan and I talked till, we even went home together as I didn’t know how to go back home.

Letter to Mdm Jean Tan!

Dear Mdm Jean Tan,

Hello! Mdm Tan how are you? I am fine, I heard that you are teaching at Fairfield Methodist secondary school, hope you are doing fine. It has been quite long time since I last heard from you. I really hope that you can come and visit Kent Ridge once in a while.
Now that I am in secondary four, it is very stressful as school has been very hectic and there has been many changes made after you have gone too. I wonder if you know that Ms Chamb. Our former principal transferred to Baliester secondary school and since secondary which is in 2007, we had a new principal came in to be our principal, whose name is Mr. Koh Chong Mong, same surname as Mr. Koh suan Lam isn’t it?
After the new principal has transferred to Kent Ridge, there are many new changes made too, for instance the uniforms, do you still remember the school badges that we used to pin on our collar pin? Well Mr Koh(new principal) has changed it to a iron on badges, which I don’t find any reason to do that, and it has been giving us more trouble than we used to. In my opinion, the new iron in badge looks pretty ugly and unsophisticated, I feel like I am in primary school again, and its too bad for us, because most of us are being forced to wear it.
When we came back to school after the holidays on 2nd of January, I found out that the colour of our school has been changed and i am okay with the new colous as having to look at the same colour or years would be dead boring, and it doesn’t look that bad too. Being able to sit in the gallery and being called “ The Seniors” is quite unimaginable, and I really am happy about that, I have been waiting to sit in the gallery for three years and now that I am in secondary 4, I can finally sit in the gallery so that is also one of the changes made only for our batch. There are also many new teachers coming in to teach our school every year, for almost all the subjects, but our former teachers have gone to different schools too for example Mr. Jonathan Tang, Ms May Wong and Mrs. AngelineSim.
It is such a pity that these teachers have been transferred to different school because they are really good teachers. This is our last year here, which is the most crucial year or all, the O levels exams are getting nearer and we have much more less time to prepare, and it seems that time passes so quickly, its like just yesterday I was in secondary 1 and now I m in secondary 4. So these are some changes that occurred in our school. I hope that you can come and visit us before the year ends and take care!

Yours sincerely,
Misheel
